How Much Do Senior Move Management Services Cost?
If you’re exploring downsizing or helping a loved one transition to a new home, one of the first questions that comes up is: “How much does it cost?” At Downsizable, we believe in transparency. Downsizing is an emotional and logistical process. And understanding the investment upfront helps families plan with confidence.
A Transparent Guide for Downsizing Families
Every downsizing project is unique, but most Downsizable projects begin at a minimum investment of $3,000.
Why? Because successful downsizing requires thoughtful planning, hands-on support, and expert coordination, not just a few hours of organizing.
The total cost depends on a few key factors:
Size of the home (condo vs. multi-level house)
Amount of belongings or clutter
Timeline and urgency of the move
Level of decision-making support needed
A lightly cluttered condo may require just a few sessions, while a larger home with decades of belongings will require a more comprehensive plan.
We intentionally structure our work in 3-hour sessions, especially when working with older adults. Downsizing can be physically and emotionally exhausting. Shorter, focused sessions allow us to:
Prevent fatigue and overwhelm
Maintain clear decision-making
Create a steady, manageable pace of progress
This approach leads to better outcomes and a more positive experience for everyone involved.
Included in Your Project Cost:
Hands-on labor from trained Downsizable team members
All packing and organizing supplies
Communication with family members and stakeholders
Coordination with senior living communities and care teams
Move management and coordination
Administrative planning and scheduling
Donation coordination and logistics
We act as your project manager, advocate, and hands-on team! There are a few third-party services that are not included in our project pricing:
Professional movers, which we recommend
Junk removal services
Cleaning services (pre- or post-sale)
Why? Because these costs can vary significantly depending on the vendor, location, and scope of work. We’re happy to coordinate and recommend trusted partners, but these services are billed separately.
To give you a clearer picture, there are four factors that typically impact the cost. The first is the volume of your belongings. A home filled with decades of possessions requires more time for sorting, decision-making, and dispersal. Are all the surfaces covered? Are your the cabinets and closets hard to close? Or have you cleared out closets already and just need help in specific areas of your home?
Complexity also plays a role. Often downsizes are more complicated than traditional moves. These types of moves often involve several family members, a senior living community, donation centers, consignment and auction partners, junk and hazardous waste removal, and sometimes storage.
The final two factors are Pace of Decision-Making and the Move Timeline. Some clients move quickly, while others need more time and support when sorting through possessions and deciding what comes with them. Others have moved frequently or are highly motivated to get to their new home. Finally, tight deadlines (such as preparing a home for listing) may require larger teams or more frequent sessions.
