POSITION: Move Associate

OVERVIEW

Downsizable is seeking compassionate, organized, and reliable individuals who enjoy helping others during important life transitions. In this role, you’ll support older adults and their families by packing, sorting, and boxing belongings, coordinating donations, and thoughtfully disposing of items—all with empathy, care, and professionalism.

COMMON TASKS

• Packing, labeling, and unpacking client belongings with care and attention

• Organizing possessions to help clients make decisions about what to keep, donate, or discard

• Preparing donation items and coordinating drop-offs

• Removing trash, recycling, and shredding in accordance with project goals

• Keeping workspaces clean and client-ready throughout the day

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Work under the direction of a Lead Move Manager (Kate or Blair)

• Provide supportive guidance to clients who may be overwhelmed or emotional

• Create logical systems for sorting and reviewing belongings

• Transport donations or supplies as needed

• Use checklists and tracking tools to monitor progress

• Track hours and mileage in project management app

REQUIREMENTS

• Kindness, patience, and comfort working with older adults

• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills

• Comfortable lifting up to 40 lbs and navigating stairs

• Reliable transportation (must be able to carry light supplies and donations)

• Basic tech skills: smartphone, Google Drive, time tracking apps

DETAILS

• Hours: 5–15 hours/week, generally between 9 AM – 3 PM

• Schedule: Monday through Friday, flexible hours

• Status: Part-time employee or contractor role (hours may vary weekly)

• Availability: At least 2 weekdays/week preferred
